XVX Jelly Keycaps R1 vs. R2 - What's New and Improved?

With their crystal-clear translucent design, vibrant RGB shine-through effects, and creamy typing feel, XVX Jelly Keycaps have become a favorite among many mechanical keyboard enthusiasts.
Thanks to the incredible support from our community, we’ve continued refining the Jelly series to create an even better experience. Based on the original version, we’ve made comprehensive upgrades to better meet the needs of more users, delivering an even better typing experience and visual appeal.
So, what exactly has been upgraded? Let’s find out!
XVX Jelly R2 adopts a more ergonomic MDA profile, making it especially suitable for users who spend long hours typing and providing a more comfortable overall typing experience.
OEM Profile:
OEM-profile keycaps feature a sculpted, stepped layout with cylindrical concave tops that naturally fit the fingertips. The overall curvature is more pronounced, making them ideal for everyday typing and gaming for most users.
MDA Profile:
MDA profile offers a moderate overall height — slightly taller than Cherry profile, while usually similar to or slightly lower than OEM.
The larger contact surface and rounded edges create a softer, more enveloping fingertip feel. This makes long typing sessions more comfortable and helps reduce finger fatigue.
Structurally, both the original and R2 feature a dual-layer design, but the materials have been upgraded.
The original version used:
Jelly R2 now features:
By upgrading both layers to premium PC material, Jelly R2 significantly improves light transmission, resulting in:
Brighter RGB lighting
Clearer shine-through effects
Better transparency and visual depth
In addition, PC material offers stronger UV resistance than ABS, helping prevent yellowing and aging over time.
The result is a cleaner, longer-lasting, crystal-clear appearance that better showcases your keyboard’s RGB lighting.
One signature feature from the original Jelly Keycaps has been preserved in Jelly R2 — the Inner Layer Legends design.
Unlike traditional keycaps, where legends are printed directly on the surface, XVX Jelly Keycaps place the legends inside the transparent keycap structure. This design provides:
No fading
No wear from finger friction
Long-lasting legend visibility
A cleaner, premium appearance
Because the legends never come into direct contact with your fingers, they remain sharp and readable even after extended use.
The original version included 113 keys. While compatible with most standard mechanical keyboard layouts, its compatibility range was still somewhat limited.
To better support more keyboard builds and layouts, Jelly R2 has been upgraded to 122 keys, adding:
Whether you use a compact setup or a fully customized keyboard, Jelly R2 offers much greater flexibility.
The XVX Jelly R2 Keycaps build upon everything users loved about the original Jelly series while introducing meaningful improvements in comfort, durability, RGB performance, and compatibility.
Whether you prioritize RGB shine-through, long-term durability, ergonomic comfort, or wider layout compatibility, Jelly R2 is designed to elevate your mechanical keyboard setup.
